Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. The actress is an actress as well as a singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who brought us Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment proceedings in over a century. For two seasons, she was the main character of CBS's hit series B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character as Essie. Additional Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and brought up in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
